Allie Blackwell {Actress/Singer Extrodinaire} – A little Tilden Tree Magic

Say hello to one of my favorite people on the planet Ms. Allie Blackwell. I have had the absolute pleasure of photographing her for a number or years now and it always makes me giddy to get that call. She is just such an absolute delight not to mention she is one savvy shopper, she always comes to her shoots with the cutest little vintage find in tow. Today she brought this petal pink Vintage Prom Dress to Tilden Park in Berkley for a little romp through the Eucalyptus trees. Allie is not just a pretty face though, she happens to be one heck of a singer/songwriter!! Check her photos out here, then head over to listen to some of her yummy tunes. http://www.soundcloud.com/AllisonHunterBlackwell

Family Photography Session with love from Texas (Photography Fair Oaks, Folsom, Roseville)

This past Christmas I received an email from a lovely lady asking me to give her a call regarding a gift certificate purchase. I called a strange area code and found a Warm Southern Accent on the other end. It turned out that Mary Lou lived in Texas but, found me on the internet and wished to purchase a gift certificate for her daughter who lives just down the street from me in Fair Oaks. She explained her daughter was a busy Physician and she worried she wouldn’t have much time for these things herself. She wanted to be absolutely SURE that they took family photos. I thought it was so sweet and thoughtful that she was still mothering her even from several states away =). We finally got to do that this Saturday and I desperately wanted to rush through and edit a few for you Mary Lou, happy Mothers Day!!!!

Most Amazing (Same Sex) Wedding Monterey, CA ( LBGT Friendly Photography)

Several weeks ago I had the awe-inspiring experience of photographing the wedding of two of the most amazing ladies I have ever met.  Crystal and Erin share a love that is so obvious, amazing and contagious that I only wish most people could experience a small piece of it.  They chose to get married at a place near and dear to their hearts, Lovers Point in Monterey.  For those of you who do not know the area, this is a small peninsula public park.

I remember thinking how brave they were when they told me they were going to get married in such a public setting.  I will admit that as we neared the reception site that day, I worried that someone might just be inconsiderate enough to cause a scene.  As the ceremony began the sightseers in the park began to take notice, many stopped in their tracks trying to figure out why two beautiful women in wedding gowns were at the altar.

As I stood at the back of the aisle taking photos I heard some bewildered whispers “where are the grooms”, “is this some sort of stunt”.  However, as Crystal and Erin began reading their very personal wedding vows to each other a transformation came over everyone witnessing this event.  Crystal began to cry, Erin also sprung a leak and the tears of joy and emotion began to spread through the wedding crowd like the wave at a sporting event……….that is when I noticed the onlookers, complete strangers pulling out tissues.

Random people in the park feeling the raw emotion of their love radiating through the air also began to cry, men and women!  I am not ashamed to say that I too began to well up, it was as if the Universe stopped in that moment, gave pause to the amazing love that can be when two people, despite many oppositions, decide to power through and find their way.   I cannot even begin to express how honored I feel that these ladies chose me to be a part of their day and prove to me beyond a doubt that LOVE IS LOVE, no matter your gender.

Sneak Peak of Newborn Baby Blake

It is such a delight to become someone’s “Family Photographer” and get the opportunity to document the major moments along the timeline of their lives.  Baby Blake is the second newborn I have gotten to photograph for Parents Michelle and Austin who have become friends over the years of engagement, wedding reception (they eloped so I missed the wedding darnit!), maternity, and 1st baby Peyton.  Thank you Austin and Michelle f

or allowing me to be a part of your lives as your beautiful family grows.

My Big FUN Greek Wedding – Greek Orthodox Church Elk Grove California – Wedding Photographer

There just isn’t an introduction wild enough or fun enough to do this couple justice.  Susan and Paul were as fun-loving as they come.  Shenanigans were the theme of the day after a beautiful traditional Greek Ceremony presided over by Father Dino.   If you have often wondered “What happened to that missing sock” you will find out in this gallery, the mystery has been solved!  You may also see the best wedding photo bomb ever, watch for it.

Favorite of the day:  I cannot tell you what happened that caused this hilarious candid moment (well I could tell you but then the Bride might kill me ;-)   But I will say that is will go down in history as one of my favorite wedding moments of all time.
